When the Waterview Pub opened its doors for Big Break Invitational this past September, it quickly became the hub of post round entertainment at Great Waters. As each day of competition came to a close and the cameras shut down, the facility heated up with several patrons searching to take their own “big break” from competition. Considered as a soft opening, the newly renovated amenity welcomed tournament participants, spectators, club members and residents each day for some unofficial closing day ceremonies. Here, tournament participants had the opportunity to mold relationships with the members and residents of the community and share a beverage or two in the process.
Following its trial run at Big Break Invitational, the Waterview Pub “officially” opened its doors to members, residents and guests in mid-October, expanding from snacks and drinks to a ‘grab and go’ menu that includes everything from bagels or bacon, egg and cheese muffins for breakfast to fish and chips, coconut shrimp or burgers for lunch or dinner. The bar is also fully stocked with a unique selection of both local and national craft beers that include Belgian style wheat, IPA, rye or extra pale ale.
Formerly designated as a snack bar and office space, the area underwent a full renovation in the summer of 2014 to become a more expansive space with exposed brick columns, hardwood floors, a full bar, tables, chairs and contemporary fixtures. Its casual setting is absolutely perfect for taking a seat at the bar with friends for a cocktail. Flat screen tvs line the walls and make it ideal for catching up on the latest score. And for those in a hurry, a stop at the ‘market place’ allows you to peruse a variety of snacks and receive quick service to ensure you tee off in time.
“Whether you want a quick bite before your round or to settle bets over a drink, the Waterview Pub at Great Waters provides a casual relaxed atmosphere,” says Gray Ferguson, senior vice president of operations at Reynolds Lake Oconee. “Several departments collaborated as a team to make this idea a reality, and we are so proud of this new addition to our community.”
