Some remarkable enhancements have been made throughout Reynolds Lake Oconee over the past two years. From extensive improvements to many of our golf courses, to the renovation of the Great Waters clubhouse, to comprehensive upgrades at the Ritz-Carlton Reynolds, Lake Oconee, virtually every facet of the community has been polished to a shine.
Building upon this theme of continuous improvement, construction is now underway on the much-anticipated amenities at the National golf course – an entirely new amenity that promises to be a distinctive addition to the community .
Drawing inspiration from the understated charm and welcoming ambience of a vintage southern homestead, the National “Village”complex is planned to include the f ollowing:
• The Golf Shop: At approximately 3,000 square feet, this building will include a registration desk, retail space, locker rooms, and a snack bar.
• Cart Storage Facility: With capacity for 120 golf carts, storage and support facilities, the exterior of this building will evoke the visual character of an antique barn.
• The Tavern: A casual restaurant and lounge, with views of the ninth green, pond and event lawn, the Tavern will feature an island bar, casual dining areas, and will be an amenity that may be enjoyed by members of all ages. A covered wrap-around porch will provide additional seating and gathering spaces.
• Event Lawn: With approximately 6,000 square feet of landscaped green space including a terrace and fire pit, this area will be well-suited for special functions, golf outings, weddings and parties.
Following in the footsteps of Reynolds Lake Oconee’s golf course architects – who carefully blended the community’s six courses seamlessly into the existing landscape – the visionaries behind the National Village designed this brand new amenity to appear as though it has stood for generations.
“This is an exciting addition to a wonderful collection of clubhouses,” said Rabun Neal, president of Reynolds Lake Oconee. “Each clubhouse in the community has its own individual personality, just as our golf courses each have unique features that give them their own special character. The new National Village complex will add another unique alternative for members and guests to enjoy.”
With construction now at full speed, the structures have begun to take shape along Hole #9 of the National Bluff. Designed by the Atlanta-based firm Chapman Coyle Chapman & Associates Architects, the National Village is positioned to face an expansive event lawn that overlooks the green and pond on the closing hole of the Bluff 9.
“It will be a collection of very comfortable buildings that express both the casual elegance of Reynolds Lake Oconee and the rustic charm of the region’s historical architecture,” said architect Barry Coyle, whose previous clubhouse projects include the new Tournament Players Club Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra, Fla., as well as Atlanta Country Club and East Hampton Golf Club in New York. “There will be many features you might more commonly associate with residential architecture, including wrap-around porches, porch swings and a fire pit. We wanted to create a welcoming,familiar ambiance that facilitates relaxation and conversation.”
Interior design for the Tavern is under the direction of The Johnson Studio in Atlanta, which has created memorable dining venues for Atlanta’s Capital City Country Club and St. Andrew’s Country Club in Boca Raton, Fla., among others.
