HOLE 1
A pond along the right side of the fairway is mainly out of play, but any drives drifting to the right could find a large bunker. Club selection is crucial on the approach to the uphill green, which slopes from back to front. Anything right of the green may find itself in the long, narrow bunker.

HOLE 2
The elevated tee shot to a wide fairway must skirt bunkers to the right of the short grass. The large green features a newly raised bunker on the front right, which shouldn’t come into play on rear hole locations. Some daring undulations play tricks with long putts.

HOLE 3
This par 5 probably is not reachable in two because of its length and the necessity to negotiate the dogleg right. The first of two holes that play along Lake Oconee, water doesn’t come into play until the second shot. More bunkers to the left present trouble on the layup, while the right side of the hole slopes toward the water; the new fairway bunkers on the right indicates the corner of the dogleg. Only one bunker on the front right shields the deep, narrow green.

HOLE 4
Both beautiful and dangerous, Lake Oconee runs along the right side from tee to green. Wind off the lake can make things tough, as can the new bunker front right. The entire green complex was reshaped, with the left-to-right surface moving even closer to the water’s edge.

HOLE 6
The first of the all-new holes is a short downhill par four that is potentially drivable. But most golfers will want to carefully choose which club to hit off the tee to avoid the large bunker on the right side of the fairway, and leaving them a reliable wedge distance and the correct angle into a green bunkered both left and right.

HOLE 7
What looks like a straightforward one-shot hole can easily prove menacing. Don’t neglect to factor in the uphill elevation change when choosing which club to hit off the tee. And be careful when taking on either the large bunker on the left or the fairway approach to the right of the large, undulating green.

HOLE 8
There’s plenty of drama on the course’s longest hole, which doglegs dramatically left, sweeping over the rolling landscape. The tee shot must navigate the fairway bunker on the right and the fescue grass on the left. The layup proofs difficult with two cross bunkers in the landing area. The small green complex slopes away from the player with a front greenside bunker.

HOLE 10
This strong uphill hole rides the natural elevation change to the high point of the course with a fairway bunker on the right. This small undulating green is protected by a bunker on the right and has three different levels, so be sure to be accurate with your approach shot to avoid a long undulating putt.

HOLE 11
Starting from a dramatic, elevated tee that offers views over most of the transformed property. The tee shot slopes from right to left towards the bunker in the left-center of the fairway. The approach shot is uphill to a green that slopes from back to front and is protected by a bunker on the right and sloping chipping areas on the left and back of the green.

HOLE 13
Length off the tee is only important here for carrying the big ravine on the right side of this left-to-right dogleg that is protected by fescue grass on both sides. Fairway bunkers along the right should steer golfers left to setup for an approach into a generous green hugged by a bunker on the right.

The temptation will be to take a little more club on this uphill par 3, but do so carefully as the large green drops off sharply to the left and back. A greenside bunker on the right makes club selection important to hit this green.

HOLE 15
Three precise shots are demanded on this dogleg left. A fairway bunker lines the left side of the landing area, while trees tighten the right. The downhill second shot is aimed at a fairway that cuts hard to the left, while a bunker and pond pinch the left corner. Bunkers protect the front and right side of the green, making even an approach with a wedge daunting.

HOLE 17
Another creek runs up the left side of the hole, then cuts in front of the green. The water and fairway bunker on the right must be negotiated on the tee shot. Taking an extra club on the approach is a good play to clear the creek. Bunkers on the back left of the green will grab everything hit too far on that side.

Bunkers frame both sides of this tee shot making accuracy a premium. The approach shot is slightly downhill to a green protected by a pond on the right and a deep bunker in the front.
