When Brandon Kinzel, 27, decided to propose to his girlfriend, Kylie Kozloski, 23, he knew he needed to find the right place for their special moment. He chose Reynolds Lake Oconee and pulled off the perfect surprise. We sat down with Brandon to find out more details on how it all started with a yes.
First things first: how did you and Kylie meet?
We actually went to the same high school, but with us being a few years apart, we did not meet until much later. About a year and half ago, we both attended a wedding – her cousin and a friend of mine – where we started talking. I asked her to dance to the last song of the night and the rest is history.
Deciding where to propose is a big decision. What led you to choose Reynolds?
Well, a few of my close friends and I take a golf trip every year. When deciding this year, my co-workers and even the owner of the company I work for kept talking about how incredible Reynolds was and how nice all of the courses were. With the spa for the girls, we were able to make it into a couple’s trip and I knew it would be the perfect time and place to ask Kylie.
So how exactly did you pop the question?
The plan was to have dinner at Linger Longer Steakhouse, but to ask her in this grassy spot with beautiful flowers behind the restaurant beforehand. I was in contact all day with our photographer, Allison Flowers. Since Kylie is close with her family, I also arranged for them to be there, hiding on the restaurant patio. As we were walking up for dinner, I asked Kylie to check out The Oconee driving range with me. I asked her for a picture and led her to the spot. Then I got down on one knee and she said yes!
Well I’m sure Reynolds is now home to one of your favorite memories. Do you think you’ll be back again soon?
Reynolds was so accommodating for the entire weekend. For the actual proposal, our photographer was so impressive with her planning and quick turn-around, and the staff at Linger Longer Steakhouse was very helpful. The golf was amazing and the girls loved the spa so much that we have decided that instead of choosing a new place for our golf trip, we will return to Reynolds annually. As for Kylie and I, Reynolds will always hold a special place in our hearts.
