When searching for wedding venues for their April 2017 nuptials, Ron and Suzanne Mohammed were seeking somewhere elegant, but with a rustic feel. If there was a view of the water, even better. They found the perfect place for them in the Rock House at Reynolds Lake Oconee. Continuing our ongoing 'Say I Do to Reynolds' series, we sat down with Ron to find out more details on what made Reynolds Lake Oconee the ideal host.
What led you to choose Reynolds Lake Oconee to host your wedding?
The location was just perfect as we wanted something close and convenient for our friends and family (they are Eatonton, Georgia natives). The ambiance and staff were superb from the first site visit.
What were you looking for when choosing a venue, and how did the Rock House fit your needs?
Suzanne and I were looking for a venue with an elegant farmhouse rustic feel. The Rock House at Reynolds, tucked into the pine trees and nestled along the water, was perfect. We enjoyed an awesome lake view for cocktail hour and were sold.
Take us through your wedding day. Set-up, food, ceremony, reception, etc.
Christine Plazola, former Director of Catering and Events at Reynolds Lake Oconee, was phenomenal as the main point of contact for us. She was with us throughout the entire process, guiding us from the sales side all the way through to the pre-planning and execution of our wedding. On the day of, everything was set and ready on time accordingly to our wishes and needs. The Reynolds Lake Oconee Events & Catering staff were very accommodating to the vendors that we had arranged for our big day, and worked in flawless unison with them. Most importantly our family and friends were thrilled with every moment. It was the perfect day.
What was your favorite part of the day?
The gorgeous memories we have from our wedding photos we took on-site. The grounds were just amazing!
Looking back, is there a memory that stands out the most from your special day?
Our first dance is something I'll always remember, as it led to a big family dance.
