At Reynolds Lake Oconee, giving back is part of the community’s DNA. For the 84 volunteers assisting the American Junior Golf Association’s (AJGA) Rolex Junior All-Star Invitational, their hard work has been noticed.
For the second time in three years, the AJGA leadership and board of directors has bestowed “Volunteers of the Year” honors on this committee, led by Member-Volunteer Chairperson Charles Finch.
The volunteers handle a variety of assignments that include player shuttles, registration and the welcome desk, food delivery, on-course spotters, walking standard-bearers and scorers, shuttling spectators, and helping the AJGA wherever it needs assistance.
Not only are these member-volunteers dedicated to giving back to the community, they are great role models for the junior golfers who compete in this prestigious event.
“The experience that Reynolds Lake Oconee is able to create through the volunteer efforts is second to none,” said Andrew Yeast, Regional Director, Southeast, AJGA. “We are very grateful to be able to work so closely with such great people and thank the community for its commitment to junior golf.”
The committee’s energy and enthusiasm go a long way to creating amazing memories for the players, parents, and all who visit Reynolds Lake Oconee.
“So many of our members are golfers, they are knowledgeable, they are retired, and they love the opportunity to volunteer,” Finch says. “Our volunteers engage each event with a spirit that is contagious throughout the tournament.”
If you’re interested in hopping on the volunteer bandwagon, the community is happy to welcome you. The Junior All-Stars return to Reynolds Lake Oconee, October 11-14, 2019.
