The inaugural Reynolds Cup presented by National Car Rental, a golf tournament for corporate executives who thrive on the competition and camaraderie that are the spirit of the game, is set for Sept. 10-12 at Reynolds Lake Oconee, the award-winning golf community and destination resort between Atlanta and Augusta.
Combining the Rees Jones-designed Oconee course with accommodations at The Ritz-Carlton Reynolds, Lake Oconee, guarantees the Reynolds Cup presented by National Car Rental will be a one-of-a-kind experience at a world-class venue.
Competitors and guests will be treated to three days of complete access to the unmatched amenities at Reynolds Lake Oconee, which residents and visitors alike have enjoyed for 30 years.
The Reynolds Cup presented by National Car Rental will match two-person teams from companies throughout the country to compete over 36 holes on The Oconee course in a Stableford Best Ball format.
Since 1947, presenting sponsor National Car Rental has served the rental car needs of frequent business travelers around the world. National – which launched the car rental industry’s first comprehensive frequent-renter program – further expedites the rental process through its award-winning Emerald Club by offering members counter bypass as well as access to National’s Emerald Aisle.
“Golf is the game of business,” said Rob Connors, vice president of brand marketing for National. “We’re thrilled to sponsor the Reynolds Cup, which brings together corporate leaders from industries across the country to enjoy the game in such a beautiful setting.”
Home to one of the most diverse collections of elite courses in the United States, Reynolds Lake Oconee is one of only 11 golf resorts in the country to earn the prestigious Platinum Medal from GOLF Magazine. Its six distinctive golf courses, fantastic lodging and dining options, and a magnificent lakefront location have firmly established Reynolds Lake Oconee as one of the nation’s premier golf and lakefront destinations and communities.
Reynolds Lake Oconee is also home to the Reynolds Kingdom of Golf presented by TaylorMade, one of the only facilities in the country where recreational golfers can receive professional instruction, be fit for new equipment in the same elite environment used by Tour professionals, and have their equipment built during their stay.
Reynolds Cup activities begin Monday, Sept. 10 with an afternoon practice round on The Oconee course, followed that evening by the official Reynolds Cup Welcome & Pairings Party at the National Tavern, featuring live entertainment and special guests.
On Tuesday Sept. 11, tee times for the first round of the tournament begin at 8 a.m. Free time follows golf, with a special dinner party at Reynolds Kingdom of Golf presented by TaylorMade that evening.
On Wednesday Sept. 12, the final round begins at 8:30 a.m. with a shotgun start – a fitting prelude to sporting clays activities in the afternoon at the new Sandy Creek Sporting Grounds. Cocktails and the awards dinner is Wednesday evening at the Sandy Creek Barn, featuring special guests.
Registration fee is $3,500 per team, which includes three nights and two rooms at The Ritz-Carlton, plus all golf and Reynolds Cup functions. Other activities include the Lake Club Wellness Center, Sandy Creek Sporting Grounds and Tennis Center. Guests can relax by the pools, play a few sets of tennis on either soft or hard courts, take an aerobics class, work out, or simply soak in outdoors.
Set along the shoreline with commanding lake views, The Ritz-Carlton Reynolds, Lake Oconee is a serene retreat where luxury merges with Southern hospitality. Amenities include multiple dining options, the award-winning Ritz-Carlton Spa, and outdoor infinity pool. Guest rooms and suites are beautifully appointed, many with local art work.
