First Place | Private Club | Reynolds Lake Oconee - Richland Pointe

When this master-planned resort community began developing a prime peninsula into a lakefront residential project several years ago, the ownership envisioned a place with a unique community within a community where a generation of active member-residents could gather and enjoy a slew of new and distinctive outdoor, lifestyle and fitness-oriented amenities.

Designed by Kuo Diedrich Chi architects, the new 11,000-square-foot Wellness and Fitness Facility at Reynolds Lake Oconee - Richland Pointe is highlighted by five well-appointed treatment/group exercise rooms, Technogym Biocircuit equipment, a yoga lawn and an infinity-edged adult relaxation pool.

The new 35-acre village was planned with elements of open-air, laid back living and indoor high-tech wellness. Interior design was done by AI3.

Since July 2021, approximately 20% of Silver level Members upgraded their plans to Platinum in order to gain access to this new lifestyle and wellness village, representing a jump in initiation fees from $30,000 to $60,000 for Platinum status.

Second Place | Public Resort | The Ritz-Carlton Reynolds, Lake Oconee

The Kuo Diedrich Chi Architects team worked with the owners of the Ritz-Carlton, Reynolds Lake Oconee to devise a plan to satisfy the growing family-oriented demand during the pandemic, and the solution was a new resort-style family pool with zero entry and a tiki bar.

The goal of the design team was to create a playful yet insulated haven that is complementary to the existing Ritz-Carlton amenities," said Howard Kuo, AIA, principal, Kuo Diedrich Chi Architects. "With its Lake Oconee-inspired design vernacular and its premium overlook location, the Family Pool Complex is a new destination for the young and young at heart."

Another highlight of the complex is the Kids Club building, a 3,000-square-foot freestanding facility with an arcade and plenty of recreational space for children and teens to safely enjoy the drier side of the day.

The design team embraced a large portion of the existing material palette while honoring the highly regarded resort's style and lakefront setting. The complex, which opened last July, represents an existing new chapter for the next generation to enjoy this destination.
