The award-winning Great Waters course at Reynolds Lake Oconee has been included on the exclusive rankings in the October issue of GOLF Magazine, as one of the “Top Five Favorite Nicklaus Courses You Can Play.”
A Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course that opened in 1992, Great Waters was listed No. 5 in a list that accompanied a special interview with Nicklaus published in the print edition.
“Being included on that list reminds us of how truly special a golf course like Great Waters is to the game,” said Mark Lammi, Vice President of Golf Operations at Reynolds Lake Oconee. “We are proud of our entire collection of golf courses and are happy to have golfers from around the world visit us to play them.”
In ranking Great Waters with Cabo del Sol Ocean Course (#1 - Mexico), Cap Cana Resort (#2 - Dominican Republic), Spring City & Lake Resort (#3 - China) and The Challenge at Manele (#4 - Lanai), the Reynolds Lake Oconee gem is the No. 1 Nicklaus course in the continental United States on this list.
Great Waters, which introduced the golf architecture of the legendary Nicklaus to Lake Oconee, is a dramatic layout that offers some of the most breathtaking golf scenery in the southeast. Consistently ranked among the Top 100 courses in the nation, Great Waters underwent a complete restoration of the greens and bunkering in 2009 that returned them to the shapes and sizes of Nicklaus’ original specifications.
“Great Waters’ reputation as a world-class golf experience plays a significant role in the Reynolds Lake Oconee golf community,” Lammi said. “The course has a great history and the renovation assures the golf course maintains its level of excellence in the future.”
