As you drive through Reynolds Lake Oconee, you will notice beautiful new homes in various stages of construction, including our recently debuted Model Home Center at Woodham Creek. If you have ever thought of building your dream home, it has never been easier with Reynolds’ Signature Home Collection, featuring over 30 pre-approved plans engineered to take the stress out of building. We sat down with two of our Signature Home Builders, Gary Pierotti of Camden Homes and Rick Buechler of Rick Buechler Custom Homes, Inc., to discuss why now is the perfect time to build.
First things first, tell me a little about your history with the building industry and what it means to be a Signature Home Builder with Reynolds Lake Oconee.
Gary: 18 years ago I began building with the Signature Home Program. The opportunity to build with this program was based on hard work and a great reputation in the industry. I am so happy to have the working relationship I do with Reynolds and the Signature Home Program. Customers are very attracted to the program because of the inspiration it serves in getting them started as well as the flexibility to meet every design opportunity.
Rick: I have been building for over 35 years, first in Ohio, then beginning at Reynolds in 1999. My wife, Kim, and I have built over 300 homes in Reynolds and have worked with the Signature Home Program to develop floorplans for the Collection. I am proud to be one of the select few builders whose experience and quality of work qualifies them to be a Signature Home Builder. Each home we’ve built is a partnership and reflects the trust Reynolds has in us and our abilities.
In your opinion, why is now a good time to build a home and what are the advantages to building and new construction homes?
Gary: Building, specifically in Reynolds, is a really exciting process. We are there from the beginning, touring with the Sales Executive and client, showing them what a home could look like on each particular homesite they view. A new construction home, including the ones we built on Armor’s Ford, allows someone who has a shorter timeline to move in right away but still enjoy all the luxury of something custom.
Rick: When you build, you are able to design something that is truly custom and uniquely yours. You can build your dream home and add your own stamp on it. We actually just finished building one of the model homes (1010 Woodham Creek) which takes advantage of a phenomenal view of The Creek Club’s eight fairway and introduces a brand new floorplan to the Collection. It is a great example of how special a new home can be.
How does the Signature Home Program improve the building process?
Gary: What customers are looking for in a home is constantly changing and evolving, so we monitor trends and showcase those elements through our model homes and floorplans. The way we collaborate with Reynolds both improves and speeds up the customizability of designing a home and makes the overall process much easier.
Rick: The Signature Home Program offers a large portfolio of homes that can speak to a variety of people. It also streamlines the process as a whole, which is perfect for someone who has never built before. It alleviates stress and allows them to see a lot of the costs up front. A customer can also mix plans together which makes for a great starting point.
I’m sure you see a lot of upgrades and additions people are making. Are there any new trends in the industry? Any that are specific to Reynolds?
Gary: Reynolds takes the open floor plan to another level with how wide and high the living spaces are designed to be. There is also a level of sophistication that is being brought in with making new homes “smart”. Everything from the thermostat to every light switch can be controlled from the touch of one button.
Rick: Many people are still very into the open floorplan concept and are adapting to a more contemporary design. A few details that stand out are floating vanities, upgraded lighting fixtures, and a lot of glass. One trend you will see in the model home is the farmhouse look and the desire for cleaner lines. It features a custom range hood, a grill deck, and cabinets that are more contemporary.
